Malian forward Fily Traoré has officially extended his contract with Tout Puissant Mazembe, one of Africa’s most successful football clubs. Traoré, who had been linked with several clubs in Europe and the Maghreb, has committed his future to the Congolese giants until June 30, 2027.
In an exclusive interview with Africafoot, Traoré expressed his satisfaction with the decision to remain at TP Mazembe, citing the club’s rich history and the vibrant atmosphere as key factors in his choice.
“Tout Puissant Mazembe is a great club in Africa, the most successful in Congo. I am very happy to play at the highest level. Every match is important and crucial for the supporters.
There is a very good atmosphere here. This year again, I am looking forward to wearing this jersey with the same determination,” Traoré said.
The 25-year-old striker has been a standout player for TP Mazembe, holding the record for the most goals scored in a single season of the Congolese championship with 25 goals.
This remarkable achievement solidified his place as a key player for the club and played a significant role in the decision to extend his contract.
Traoré revealed that discussions about the extension had been ongoing for some time, even before preparations for the upcoming Olympic Games.
“Yes, I have extended with Tout Puissant Mazembe until June 30, 2027. We were in talks well before the preparations for the Olympic Games.
Now that it is official, I can fully focus on the season ahead,” he confirmed.
Despite his impressive club form, Traoré recently faced disappointment on the international stage, as he was not selected for the Malian national team’s Olympic squad.
However, the forward remains optimistic and professional about the situation, stating his intent to use the setback as motivation to improve and regain his place in the national team.
“I was a little disappointed, but as a professional, you have to understand that it is the coach’s choice. Now I will focus on the club.
I will continue to work hard to come back with the same enthusiasm,” he added.
Traoré’s commitment to TP Mazembe until 2027 is seen as a significant boost for the club as they aim to maintain their dominance in the Congolese championship and compete at the highest levels in African football.
His presence in the squad will be crucial as the team looks to build on its successes and strive for further glory.
The extension of Traoré’s contract also reflects TP Mazembe’s confidence in his abilities and their desire to keep top talent within the club.
As he prepares for the new season, Traoré is determined to continue delivering exceptional performances and to contribute to the club’s ongoing success in both domestic and continental competitions.
