Filimon Gerezgiher swaps Bundesliga for F. Dusseldorf in free transfer

Eritrean-German winger Filimon Gerezgiher has joined F. Dusseldorf from SV Elversberg on a free transfer, completing a move from the Bundesliga to Germany’s 3. Liga.

The 26-year-old, who plays on the left wing, switches clubs on 1 September 2026 after leaving Elversberg. No transfer fee is involved in the deal.

Gerezgiher’s arrival gives F. Dusseldorf a senior wide player with experience of a club operating in Germany’s top division. His move also represents a change in competitive level, with his new side participating in the 3. Liga.

He joins after spending the previous part of his career at SV Elversberg. The transfer links him with a club in F. Dusseldorf and brings his next chapter in German football into focus following his time at Elversberg.

Gerezgiher has dual Eritrean and German nationality and is listed as a left winger. His age places him among the established players in F. Dusseldorf’s squad, while his preferred position gives the club an option on the left side of attack.

The move comes with Gerezgiher’s recorded market value listed at €250,000, although F. Dusseldorf have secured his services without paying a fee. That makes the deal a cost-free addition for the 3. Liga club as it strengthens its squad with a player arriving from a higher level of German football.

F. Dusseldorf have now added Gerezgiher to their squad, while Elversberg lose the winger following the completion of the switch. The move was finalised on 1 September 2026.

Gerezgiher’s transfer to F. Dusseldorf is complete, with the Eritrean-German winger leaving SV Elversberg on a free transfer.
