Morocco’s women’s national football team has maintained its 60th place in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings, released today.
The Atlas Lionesses continue to rank among the top three teams in Africa, trailing Nigeria (36th) and South Africa (54th).
Despite a relatively quiet period on the international stage, Morocco’s consistency has helped solidify its reputation as a rising power in African women’s football.
Globally, the United States remains the top-ranked team, followed by Spain in second and Germany in third.
Brazil moved up to fourth after a victory over the U.S. in April, pushing England down to fifth. Sweden holds steady in sixth.
Japan and Canada both slipped in the standings following recent losses—Japan to Brazil and Canada to Argentina.
North Korea stays firm in ninth place, while France climbs back into the top ten, displacing the Netherlands.
Looking ahead, the Atlas Lionesses are preparing for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled from July 5 to 26.
Drawn into Group A, Morocco will face Zambia, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Matches will take place across several cities, with venues including Casablanca’s Larbi Zaouli and Père Jégo Stadiums, Rabat’s Olympic Stadium, El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia, Stade d’Honneur in Oujda, and the Municipal Stadium in Berkane.
