FIFA President Gianni Infantino has extended warm congratulations to Egypt following their qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Pharaohs sealed their place at the global showpiece after defeating Djibouti 3-0 in Casablanca on Wednesday afternoon to top their qualifying group with 23 points.
In a video message shared on his official Instagram page, Infantino expressed his delight at Egypt’s return to football’s biggest stage, commending their history, passion, and consistency in African football.
“Mabruk ya Misr! Mabruk!” Infantino exclaimed joyfully. “The Pharaohs return to the FIFA World Cup. After the 1934, 1990 and 2018 editions, the Egyptian flag will once again fly on the biggest stage of all in Canada, Mexico and USA in 2026 on what will be your fourth appearance at the greatest global sporting tournament there is.”
The FIFA President’s congratulatory message highlights Egypt’s remarkable football legacy and the nation’s growing influence on the global stage.
He also expressed anticipation for the final draw of the tournament, set for December 5, where Egypt will learn their group-stage opponents.
“Congratulations Egypt. We are looking very much forward to seeing your path to glory on 5 December at the final draw,” Infantino added.
Egypt’s qualification marks another milestone in their illustrious football history.
After narrowly missing out on the 2022 edition in Qatar, the Pharaohs will now aim to make a strong impact when the World Cup returns to North America in 2026.
Infantino’s message reflects FIFA’s appreciation for Egypt’s contribution to African football and its enduring status as one of the continent’s most successful footballing nations.
