Reports from Tunisian media outlets revealed on Wednesday that the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), affiliated with FIFA, has intervened to settle the dispute involving Algerian international player Elias Chétti and his former club, Tunisian side Esperance.
According to Tunisian sports news site “Nessma Sport,” CAS has decided to reduce the fine that Chétti must pay to his former club, Esperance.
The source clarified that the fine imposed on Chétti has been reduced to 197,000 euros, instead of the initial amount of 970,000 euros.
Moreover, the same source affirmed that the player Elias Schtroumpf is no longer under threat of any sanctions.
To recall, Esperance’s management lodged a complaint with FIFA against Chétti after he unilaterally terminated his contract with the club and subsequently joined French club Angers SCO in the summer of 2022.
