In another blow to Pyramids FC during the current winter transfer window, FIFA, the international football governing body, has imposed a fine on the club over the ongoing controversy involving its former star, Omar Laayouni.
The FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber rebuked Pyramids FC, slapping them with a fine of $150,000 for the overdue payments owed to their former Tunisian player, Omar Laayouni, who represented the club in a previous period.
The resolution also disclosed that a 5% interest had been applied to the amount starting from August 1 of the previous year, continuing until the actual payment date in favor of the Tunisian player.
Moreover, the decision from the Dispute Resolution Chamber outlined that failure to settle the fine would result in the suspension of the club’s registration for three consecutive registration periods.
Pyramids FC officials are expected to lodge an appeal against the decision in the coming hours before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
