Morocco, alongside Spain and Portugal, is set to be officially confirmed as the host trio for the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The highly anticipated announcement will take place during the Extraordinary FIFA Congress on Wednesday, marking the final step in the selection process for the centenary edition of the tournament.
The event, which will be conducted via videoconference, is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. local time in Morocco (GMT+1).
It will be broadcast live on the Arryadia TV channel, and viewers can also likely watch the proceedings via the official FIFA website.
This vote is expected to be a formality, as the joint bid from Morocco, Spain, and Portugal is the sole proposal under consideration, with Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay only seeking to host a handful of matches.
This momentous occasion will officially conclude a lengthy bidding process that began over a year ago. On October 28, 2023, Morocco, Spain, and Portugal presented their intent to jointly host the 2030 World Cup, just days after their initial meeting in Lisbon.
This was followed by the formal submission of their bid dossier to FIFA on the same date. FIFA’s inspection report, published on November 30, 2023, praised the bid, with the three nations exceeding the necessary requirements.
The only remaining detail to be finalized is the venue for the World Cup final, with two cities—Casablanca in Morocco and Madrid in Spain—competing for the honor.
As the world waits for FIFA’s decision, the final step in securing the 2030 World Cup will be completed during this vote, cementing the host countries’ place in history.
Les passionnés de football pourront suivre l’annonce du vote le mercredi 11 décembre à partir de 15 heures (heure marocaine), un événement attendu par les supporters marocains et au-delà.
