Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou has expressed his excitement after Al Hilal fought back to secure a point against Real Madrid in their opener in the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup.
Gonzalo Garcia broke the deadlock at the Hard Rock Stadium, but with four minutes to end the first half, the Saudi side were awarded a spot kick.
Portugese attacker Ruben Neves stepped up to equalise for the side.
After recess, the Moroccan goalkeeper saved a penalty kick in the final minutes of the match to deny the Spanish side a win.
“We showed the world who Al Hilal is, and we played a strong match against a very strong competitor with distinguished players,” Bono said after the game.
“It was a highly tactical match, as we played against a very tough opponent, and thank God for the result,” he added.
It is noteworthy that Bono saved his eighth penalty kick in his career, including three with Al Hilal, all in the 2024-2025 season.
Al Hilal will hope to secure their first win of the tournament when they come up against RB Salzburg on Sunday, June 22, at the Audi Field Stadium, with kick-off scheduled at 22:00 GMT.
