The draw for the FIFA Club World Cup will take place in Marrakech, Morocco, where the competition is hosted. The opening match will feature Raja Casablanca, the Moroccan champions, against Auckland City. Bayern Munich, the European champions, will enter the semi-finals against Atletico Mineiro, the South American champions.
The draw will determine the quarter-final matchups involving Monterrey (representing North America) and the representatives from Africa and Asia. The African representative will be determined by the winner of the CAF Champions League final, played in two legs on November 2-3 and November 9-10. The Asian representative will be determined by the winner of the Asian Champions League final, played in two legs on October 25-26 and November 8-9, between FC Seoul (South Korea) and Guangzhou Evergrande (China).
The FIFA Club World Cup, created in 2000, features champions from each continent, including the host country’s champion. Clubs from UEFA, Copa Libertadores, CAF Champions League, AFC Champions League, CONCACAF Champions League, and OFC champions participate in the competition. The tournament, played annually, has traditionally been dominated by European and South American clubs, with only one exception in 2010 when Tout-Puissant Mazembe, a club from the Democratic Republic of Congo, reached the final. The upcoming edition will be held in Morocco.
