Wydad Casablanca have been eliminated from the FIFA Club World Cup tournament following defeat to Juventus on Sunday.
The Moroccan giants were seeking for a win to better their chances of progressing to the next stage of the maiden tournament being held in the United States of America but that backfired as the Italian giants put up a brave performance to claim a convincing win over the African club at the Lincoln Financial Field.
Putting up a stellar performance, Juventus cruised to a resounding 4-1 victory over Wydad Casablanca, sinking their chances of securing a knockout stage spot.
Juventus opened the scoring after just six minutes into match following Abdelmounaim Boutouil’s own goal in the much-anticipated clash. Ten-minutes later, Kenan Yildiz found the back of the net to double the advantage for the European powerhouse.
Wydad Casablanca restored hope in the match, pulling one back in the 25th-minute mark through Thembinkosi Lorch as the first half ended 2-1 for Juventus.
After the break, the Italian giants produced a top-class performance, scoring two additional goals to secure an emphatic win over their opponent.
Turkish international Kenan Yildiz fired home his second goal of the match to extend the lead for Juventus in the 69th-minute before Dusan Vlahovic converted from the spot in stoppage time to seal victory.
Before this match, the Moroccan outfit had succumbed to a 2-0 defeat in their opening Group G clash against Manchester City.
The Moroccan club put up a good fight against Manchester City and Juventus, but with 0 points after two matches, qualification for the round of 16 is mathematically impossible.
Currently third on the table, the Africa outfit will have to beat Al Ain on June 26 in their final group game to at least place third.
