Fernando Torres Receives Hero’s Welcome as He Returns to Atletico Madrid
Fernando Torres was greeted like a hero today at Atletico Madrid, the club where he began his career, marking a highly anticipated comeback.
Over 40,000 fans stood to applaud the striker at Vicente Calderón Stadium, celebrating his return.
Torres has been loaned by AC Milan until 2016.
The Spanish international expressed his joy, saying:
“How nice it is to come home!”
Torres made his debut for Atletico at just 17 years old in 2001. He played a key role in the club’s rise back to La Liga, scoring 91 goals in 244 appearances.
After leaving Atletico in 2007, he moved to Liverpool, where he played until 2011, before joining Chelsea for a 60 million euro transfer. He spent the past six months at AC Milan, featuring in 10 matches and scoring once.
His return to Atletico marks an emotional homecoming for both the player and the fans.
