Fenerbahce weigh move for Lyon’s Belgian-Guinean winger Malick Fofana

Belgian-Guinean winger Malick Fofana is being linked with a move from Lyon to Fenerbahce, with the Turkish club considering a deal for the 21-year-old before the transfer window closes.

Fofana, who plays on the left wing, has begun the 2026-27 season with two goals in six appearances for Lyon across Ligue 1 and Champions League qualifying. He scored once in four qualifying matches and once in two league appearances.

The proposed move would take Fofana from France’s top flight to the Super Lig, although there is no indication that a transfer has been agreed. The rumour is currently assessed at 59%.

Fofana joined Lyon from Belgian club KAA Gent in January 2024 in a deal worth €19.5m. His current market value is listed at €30m, which would give Lyon a significant decision to make should Fenerbahce formalise their interest.

The winger’s contract with Lyon runs until 30 June 2028, meaning the French club are under no immediate pressure to sell. Fofana has made four starts in Champions League qualifying this season but has not started either of Lyon’s two Ligue 1 matches, featuring for 31% of the available league minutes.

Lyon remain his current club, with Fofana contracted in France for the next two seasons beyond the current campaign.
