The Congolese Football Federation (FECOFA) has firmly dismissed circulating claims that each member of the Democratic Republic of Congo national team, the Leopards, received or will receive a $1 million bonus.

In an official statement issued on November 12, 2025, FECOFA clarified that the rumour, which has spread across social media and certain news outlets, has no foundation or link to any confirmed decision by either the Federation or the Congolese government.

The statement labelled the information as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard it completely.

FECOFA encouraged fans, journalists, and the wider public to rely solely on verified communications from official channels.

It stressed that credible information about the Leopards and national football affairs should only come from FECOFA’s official releases and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation.

The Federation reaffirmed its ongoing dedication to maintaining transparency in all its operations and financial dealings.

It also restated its focus on improving the welfare of the national team and promoting Congolese football in a professional and accountable manner.

The statement concluded with a reminder that spreading unverified information damages the image of the national team and undermines collective efforts to support Congolese football development.
