FECAFOOT reportedly opens talks with Hervé Renard over Cameroon coaching job

The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has initiated discussions with experienced French coach Hervé Renard regarding the possibility of taking over as head coach of the Indomitable Lions, according to reports.

Sources indicate that Renard, a two-time Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner, is among the leading candidates under consideration as the federation explores options to strengthen the national team’s technical leadership.

The 56-year-old tactician, who was recently dismissed by the Saudi Arabia Football Federation, is believed to be open to the prospect of returning to African football, where he has previously enjoyed significant success.

Renard’s coaching résumé makes him one of the most decorated foreign coaches on the continent. He guided Zambia to AFCON glory in 2012 before repeating the feat with Côte d’Ivoire in 2015, cementing his reputation as a specialist in African international football.

His name has repeatedly surfaced in discussions around the Cameroon job in recent years, and this latest development signals renewed interest from FECAFOOT as they assess long-term stability for the national team setup.

While no agreement has been reached, the early talks suggest Cameroon are actively exploring high-profile options as they aim to rebuild and remain competitive on the continental and global stage.

Renard’s potential appointment would mark a significant move for Cameroonian football, given his track record of delivering results in high-pressure international environments.
