Elias Saad, the left winger for FC St. Pauli, will be absent from the upcoming “Super United Cup Cairo 2024” Tournament following an unexpected turn of events. The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) confirmed late Monday evening that Saad would not be joining his teammates in Cairo due to an urgent medical situation.
The FTF announced Saad’s forfeiture from the tournament as he is scheduled to undergo emergency mouth surgery on Tuesday morning in Hamburg.
The decision to withdraw Saad from the competition was made in light of his impending medical procedure, ensuring his health and well-being take precedence.
Meanwhile, there is uncertainty surrounding the participation of Elyès Skhiri, whose presence in the tournament hinges on the outcome of medical evaluations he will undergo in the coming hours. Skhiri’s status remains in doubt as the medical team assesses his fitness for the upcoming matches.
Despite these setbacks, other Tunisian internationals who compete in foreign leagues have returned to the team’s training camp in Cairo.
Players such as Wajdi Kechrida, Dylan Bronn, Mohamed Hadj Mahmoud, Moataz Zaddem, and several others have rejoined the squad in preparation for the tournament.
The absence of Elias Saad due to medical reasons underscores the unpredictability that can arise in elite football competitions.
While his withdrawal is a setback for the Tunisian team, the focus remains on rallying together and delivering strong performances in the upcoming matches of the Super United Cup Cairo 2024.
