French Ligue 1 outfit FC Nantes is set to fine Egyptian attacker Mostafa Mohamed over his refusal to play against Montpellier during the gameweek dedicated to the fight against homophobia.
During the week, players wear shirts with the names and numbers printed in the colours of the pride flag.
The pride flag made up of rainbow flag is a symbol of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ).
Since joining Nantes back in 2022, Mostafa Mohamed has been absent from the Nantes squad in the gameweek in which Ligue 1 fights against homophobia.
With the gameweek dedicated to the fight against homophobia coming up, FC Nantes are preparing for a clash against Montpellier on Saturday, May 17.
Already, Mostafa has noted that he will not be taking part in the game.
As a result, he has not been a part of Les Canaris’ training camp ahead of the final game of the season against Montpellier HSC.
With so much as stake for FC Nantes as the club looks to avoid relegation, reports indicate that the club plans to hand a heavy fine to Mostafa Mohamed.
