FC Barcelona will play a high-profile friendly in Casablanca, Morocco, on August 7, fitting it between their Asian preseason tour and the annual Joan Gamper Trophy fixture.
The match will take place just days after Barça wraps up a 12-day tour of Japan and South Korea, and three days before their traditional season curtain-raiser at Spotify Camp Nou.
According to Spanish outlet, Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan club initially received a lucrative offer to play in Casablanca on July 20.
However, after internal discussions involving the board, sporting director, and new head coach Hansi Flick, the date was pushed back to August 7.
Barcelona will begin preseason preparations under Flick on July 13 with medical tests, followed by training sessions from July 14 at the Ciutat Esportiva in Sant Joan Despí.
After 10 days of training in Spain, the team will depart for Asia. The tour kicks off on July 27 with a match against Vissel Kobe at Noevir Stadium in Japan, commemorating the club’s 30th anniversary.
Barça will then head to South Korea, where they’ll face FC Seoul on July 31 at Seoul World Cup Stadium, and Daegu FC on August 4.
The Asian leg of the preseason is expected to bring in around €10 million for the club.
Upon returning to Barcelona on August 5, the team will regroup and travel to Morocco for the Casablanca match two days later. The Moroccan club they’ll face has not yet been named.
Barcelona will conclude their preseason with the Joan Gamper Trophy on August 10, likely against Italian side Como, in what will also be the squad’s official presentation to fans at Spotify Camp Nou.
Following last season’s treble triumph—winning La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup—Barcelona’s global appeal has soared, making them a sought-after club for international friendlies and promotional tours.
