Ansu Fati is pushing to extend his stay at AS Monaco beyond the current campaign, as the on-loan forward seeks stability after reviving his form away from FC Barcelona.

Once heralded as the natural successor to Lionel Messi at Barcelona, Fati’s early promise was derailed by a series of serious injuries that stalled his development and limited his impact at the Camp Nou.

Those setbacks saw the Spanish international of Guinean descent gradually slip down the club’s attacking hierarchy, prompting a temporary move to Ligue 1 in search of regular football.

That decision appears to have paid off. The 23-year-old has shown encouraging signs of rediscovering his sharpness and confidence in Monaco colours, registering 10 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions.

His improved performances have not only strengthened his case for a long-term role at the principality club but also reignited belief in his ability to compete at the highest level.

Fati’s preference for continuity has been echoed by his father, Bori Fati, who confirmed the player’s desire to remain in France. “We’d like Fati to stay at Monaco. He’s happy there,” he said. “He’s still under contract at Barca until June 2028, so we will see.”

Despite the player’s openness to a permanent switch, the final decision rests with Monaco. The club reportedly holds an option to make the move permanent for a fee in the region of €11 million, though no definitive call has yet been made.
