Faris Moumbagna’s comeback: Marseille’s striker nears return to bolster attack

Faris Moumbagna

Faris Moumbagna is on the verge of making his comeback for Olympique de Marseille, bringing hope to a side that has undergone significant changes since his unfortunate injury.

The 24-year-old Cameroon international suffered a devastating ACL rupture just moments into his substitute appearance during Marseille’s opening match—a dominant 5-1 victory over Stade Brestois.

According to L’Équipe, Moumbagna’s rehabilitation is progressing steadily, and he is expected to rejoin the squad by early spring. The striker, initially signed as a backup to Elye Wahi, will now return to a team that has reshuffled its attacking hierarchy under manager Roberto De Zerbi.

In Moumbagna’s absence, Marseille turned to the transfer market, acquiring Neal Maupay from Everton. Meanwhile, Wahi’s struggles have raised questions about his future at the club, with promising talent Robinio Vaz also staking a claim for a regular spot.

As Moumbagna eyes his return, his adaptability and determination could prove vital for Marseille as they push for success in a season marked by transition and opportunity.
