Farès Chaïbi has been officially recalled to the Algerian national team for their upcoming training camp in June, as confirmed by his club, Eintracht Frankfurt, on social media.
The 21-year-old midfielder is set to join the national team camp at the Sidi Moussa Technical Centre on 2 June ahead of two scheduled international friendlies against Rwanda in Constantine and Sweden in Stockholm.
Despite a season in which he struggled for consistent minutes in the Bundesliga, national team coach Vladimir Petkovic has once again placed his trust in the former Toulouse player.
Chaïbi’s inclusion comes amid a period of uncertainty surrounding his club future.
At Eintracht Frankfurt, he found himself on the fringes for much of the campaign, primarily making late substitute appearances or featuring sporadically in domestic cup matches.
Although there was a slight uptick in involvement towards the tail end of the season, the lack of regular playing time has led to growing speculation that the midfielder could be seeking a move during the summer transfer window.
This is not the first time Petkovic has selected players with limited club action.
During the previous international break, Chaïbi and Saïd Benrahma were both included in the squad, a decision that the Swiss tactician openly defended.
“I am not a coach who hides behind excuses. I always choose the 23 players who are ready to defend the colors of the National Team,” Petkovic said at the time.
Chaïbi, who made his senior international debut in 2023, is still regarded as one of Algeria’s promising young talents.
His technical ability and versatility in midfield have earned him praise, even as he battles for more prominent club exposure.
Petkovic’s decision to include him again suggests a continued belief in the player’s potential contribution to the national side.
As preparations begin for the June friendlies, Algeria’s squad announcement continues to arrive incrementally through club confirmations rather than official releases.
While other federations have published full squad lists well in advance, the Algerian Football Federation has yet to make a comprehensive announcement through its official channels.
Nonetheless, for Chaïbi, the call-up offers a chance to refocus on international duties and make a statement on the pitch — perhaps laying the groundwork for both a national team breakthrough and a refreshed start at club level.
