Famalicao U23 sign France and Guinea defender Salifou Sylla from Angers

France and Guinea defender Salifou Sylla has joined Famalicao U23 from Angers SCO U19, switching to the Portuguese club on 20 August 2026.

The 19-year-old centre-back moves into Famalicao’s Liga Next Gen set-up after spending the previous season with Angers’ under-19 side. Sylla, who was born in Orleans, stands at 1.95m and adds size to the Portuguese club’s defensive options.

Sylla made 34 appearances in National U19 – Group C, scoring three goals. He also featured 13 times in National 2 – Group B, providing one assist, and played seven matches in the Coupe Gambardella.

His move to Famalicao follows a season at Angers, where he arrived from FC Nantes U19 on a free transfer on 1 July 2025. Before that, he had progressed within Nantes’ youth structure, moving from the club’s under-17 side to the under-19 team in July 2024.

The defender’s switch to Portugal represents the latest step in a youth career that has so far included football in both France and Portugal. His arrival gives Famalicao U23 another option in central defence as the club competes in the Liga Next Gen.

Sylla has now completed his move from Angers SCO U19 to Famalicao U23.
