French defender of Malian descent, Ibrahima Konate, has rejected the claims that Liverpool have had a bad season in the 2024/25 campaign.
In the last few weeks, critics have argued that because the club could not win the English FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, the team has not been successful.
Others have claims that team has failed this season over their inability to progress in the UEFA Champions League beyond the Round of 16.
However, Ibrahima Konate shares a different view.
According to him, the team’s season has been successful, especially as they are on track to win the English Premier League title.
“Exactly. I completely agree and if you ask every player or every fan what you will pick [out of] play for every trophy but you don’t know what you will get at the end of the season or maybe a chance to win the Premier League, I think all of them would say, ‘yes, maybe a chance to win the Premier League’,” Ibrahima Konate said.
He continued, “We don’t have to listen to media and think that because we didn’t win the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup or we are out of the Champions League that we have a bad season. No, nobody expected us to be where we are today.
“We just have to do everything and give everything every game until the end of the season, game after game, and if we achieve something special, everyone will be very happy.”
Liverpool, after 32 games in the English Premier League, are top of the English Premier League.
The team leads the table with 76 points, seven more than Arsenal, the team in second.
Ibrahima Konate is confident that Liverpool will clinch the league title at the end of the season.
