Fabio Capello backs Zinedine Zidane to become France’s next coach

Zinedine Zidane's potential involvement with Algeria's national team faces new developments

Zinedine Zidane, born to Algerian parents, has been endorsed by former Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello as a suitable candidate to manage the French national team.

Capello praised Zidane’s managerial abilities, particularly during his tenure at Real Madrid, highlighting his effective team management and charismatic leadership.

Capello noted that Zidane’s decision to decline offers from other clubs suggests his interest in leading only top-tier teams.

After his successful spell at Real Madrid, Capello speculated that Zidane might consider managing elite clubs like Manchester City or Liverpool.

“He surprised me with the skill with which he coached Real Madrid. He had the team, but it’s not enough to have the team,” he told Flashscore.

“You have to know how to manage it, you have to know how to bring it to your side, you have to convince it to do certain things and he had the charisma that he had on the pitch, so I consider him capable of coaching the French team.

“The fact that he didn’t agree to go to other teams makes me realise that he could have accepted a team that was only at the top. After coaching Real Madrid, the top team could be Manchester City or Liverpool.”

Zidane’s coaching career began with Real Madrid Castilla before he was promoted to manage the first team in 2016.

Under his guidance, Real Madrid secured numerous titles, including three consecutive UEFA Champions League trophies. H

is leadership and understanding of the game have been widely acknowledged, positioning him as a strong candidate for national team management.

Capello’s endorsement adds to the growing recognition of Zidane’s coaching credentials.
