Serge Gakpé Poised for January Exit from FC Nantes Amid Torino Interest
Togolese striker Serge Gakpé could be on the move this winter as several English and Italian clubs closely monitor the FC Nantes forward. Serie A side Torino, currently 14th in the Italian top flight, have reportedly launched a concrete bid for the former Monaco player.
With his Nantes contract set to expire next June, Gakpé has yet to receive a contract extension offer — or is believed to be holding out for better terms. This has fueled speculation that he will depart Ligue 1 in the current transfer window rather than leave on a free transfer in the summer.
English side Hull City have also expressed interest, but it is Torino who have taken the most proactive steps, submitting an offer reportedly worth €5 million. Nantes appear willing to negotiate a sale this month to recoup funds rather than risk losing Gakpé for nothing in June.
The striker now faces a decision on his future as Torino continue to show intent. Interestingly, the club recently showed interest in another Togolese international, Emmanuel Adebayor, highlighting their growing focus on talent from Togo.
