Inside sources at Al-Ahly club have unveiled the behind-the-scenes dynamics of Swiss coach Marcel Koller’s decision to exclude Mahmoud Kahraba from the team’s lineup for the upcoming match against Baladiyat Al-Mahalla in the Egyptian league.
Al-Ahly is set to host Baladiyat Al-Mahalla at the Cairo International Stadium this evening, Tuesday, at 7 PM local time, in a match postponed from the fifth round of the Egyptian league.
According to “Al-Masry Al-Youm,” Kahraba’s exclusion stems from a dispute between him and Marcel Koller before the team’s trip to play the last match against Medeama in Ghana.
The source clarified that Al-Ahly’s coach wanted Kahraba to join the team in Ghana and requested that the player reschedule his sister’s wedding by 24 hours.
However, Kahraba refused, resulting in his absence from the team’s trip.
Furthermore, the source added that Koller informed Kahraba that he would lose his place in Al-Ahly’s starting lineup in the upcoming period due to his absence from the Ghana trip.
Al-Ahly is gearing up for another challenging match against Young Africans of Tanzania next Friday as part of the sixth and final round of the group stage in the African Champions League.
Al-Ahly needs just one point to secure the top spot and seal their group’s leadership, currently holding 9 points, while Young Africans have 8 points.
