Swiss coach Marcel Koller, the head coach of the first football team, has decided to reintegrate Malian player Aliou Dieng back into the starting lineup. This decision comes as the team prepares to face MC Alger in the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
According to “Korabia,” Marcel Koller, Al Ahly’s coach, gave the planning committee a final deadline in the past few hours to determine the fate of Aliou Dieng.
The Malian midfielder has been sought after by a Gulf club for $3 million.
Marcel Koller urged the Al Ahly administration not to leave Aliou Dieng if no suitable financial offer is received, especially with the lack of any midfield acquisitions during the winter transfer window.
This decision is further compounded by the injury to Ahmed Nabil “Kouka” and the challenge of relying entirely on 34-year-old Amr El Solia during the upcoming intense match schedule at Al Ahly.
Marcel Koller hopes that if Aliou Dieng, currently with the Mali national team, stays, the player will regain his usual form. Koller envisions Dieng as a crucial part of the starting lineup in the match against MC Alger, a game crucial for securing three valuable points in Algeria, enhancing Al Ahly’s position in the quest for qualification to the group stage, and continuing their successful journey.
Al Ahly had hoped to sell Aliou Dieng for $5 million in the current winter transfer market to bolster its financial liquidity, but this has not materialized so far.
