Senegal Lions and Lille midfielder, Idrissa Gana, spoke to Africa Top Sports in a telephone interview from Paris, expressing confidence in the team’s readiness to face Uganda on September 7. Gana stated that the friendly match against Zambia on Wednesday in Paris allowed the team to focus on automating their play and making crucial internal adjustments.
Despite Zambia taking an early lead in the 2nd minute through David Mulenga, Senegal reacted swiftly, with Dame Ndoye equalizing in the 8th minute. Gana Guéye noted that the team was prepared for such scenarios, as the coach had warned them about it.
Gana highlighted that the review of the troops during the friendly match was successful, providing the team with what they were looking for. Despite numerous missed opportunities by Senegalese attackers, the Lille midfielder expressed optimism about the team’s readiness for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Uganda.
“We are already ready against Uganda. We know how important this match is, and we are already working to not give in,” said Idrissa Gueye. Uganda, Senegal’s next opponent, had previously been defeated by Egypt with a scoreline of 3-0.
