Former Orlando Pirates coach Arthur Zwane has eulogized South African youngster Relebohile Mofokeng following a standout performance in the just ended campaign.
The 20-year-old enjoyed an amazing campaign with the Soweto giants, scoring five goals and delivering seven assists in 25 appearances in the South African top-flight.
Mofokeng has already featured for the South Africa national team, making five appearances since his debut on June 2024.
Speaking to iDiski Times, Zwane hailed the winger’s outstanding performance while tipping him to make the Bafana Bafana squad for the 2026 World Cup.
“I don’t want to sound controversial. However, I think if you look at Rele—I believe he has carried Orlando Pirates. But what Rele has done at his age this season, carrying such a giant on his shoulders, I think is something else, it’s been remarkable.
We need players like him so others can see what it means to perform at this level. And now he’s definitely going to the World Cup—I don’t want people to say I’m picking him, I’m not the national team coach. But, seeing how coach Broos works, I can say that he’s already integrated into the senior national team,” Zwane told iDiski Times.
Meanwhile, the forward has emerged as a top transfer target for several clubs due to his swashbuckling performance in the just ended season.
