Former Liverpool forward Dirk Kuijt has revealed that he is one of the people who wants Egyptian star, Mohamed Salah to sign a new contract at the club.
Although the Egyptian is ageing, Dirk Kuijt believes his quality is still vital for Liverpool and the club needs to get him to stay beyond the current season.
The former Dutch international also wants Liverpool to do everything to keep defender Virgil van Dijk.
“Virgil is doing great, playing at his best level. He takes care of his game and also helps others—on and off the field. It wasn’t easy for him to come back after a serious injury, and he was criticized, but this season he’s been outstanding, and I enjoy every minute of him playing for Liverpool. He will soon turn 34, but nowadays players can perform longer than in my generation.
“The same goes for Mo, who turns 33 in June. Everyone who loves Liverpool wants these players to sign new contracts as soon as possible, but we don’t know the details. I just hope to hear soon that they’re staying at Liverpool because they’re among the best players in the world,” Kuijt said in an interview.
Although there have been reports of negotiations between Liverpool and Mohamed Salah, no agreement has been reached.
