'Everything making sense now' - Cameroon forward Etienne Eto'o after LaLiga debut

Etienne Eto’o, son of African football legend Samuel Eto’o, reached a milestone over the weekend in his burgeoning career with Rayo Vallecano.

The 22-year-old made his LaLiga debut during a 1-0 loss to Villarreal at Estadio de Vallecas on Saturday.

Despite the team’s defeat, Eto’o’s appearance marked a big personal achievement.

Reflecting on his journey, Eto’o shared his thoughts on social media, stating that all the hard work he has been putting in is now making sense.

“February 22, 2025 is the date when everything seemed to make sense , but the reality is that it all started much earlier.

“Since I was born with the innocence of a child and driven by the inspiration of my father, there was no field, yard, park or garage that escaped me . Since childhood, the question accompanied me: What do you want to be when you grow up?

“A footballer, without knowing very well if it was perhaps politically correct or rather what I really wanted to be. Over the years I understood that no, I was forging a determination and unbreakable will to be a footballer.”

The following day, Eto’o showcased his talent by scoring a hat-trick for Rayo Vallecano B in a 3-2 victory over his former club, CUC Villalba, in the Tercera RFEF.

This performance elevated his season tally to 21 goals in 23 matches, underscoring his prowess as a forward.
