Everton in advanced talks to re-sign Jack Grealish on loan from Manchester City

Everton are in advanced negotiations with Manchester City to bring England international Jack Grealish back to the club on loan for another season, according to TalkSport.

The proposed agreement would see Everton cover 90% of Grealish’s wages, a contribution that has reportedly made the deal viable. Manchester City had previously been considering only a permanent transfer for the 30-year-old, but the arrangement could now allow him to leave on loan.

Everton are also expected to seek an option to buy Grealish at the end of the season. If included in the contract, that clause would give the club the opportunity to make his move permanent next summer.

Grealish spent last season on loan at Everton, making 22 appearances for the club. He scored twice and provided six assists during that spell.

The forward has made 159 appearances for Manchester City, scoring 17 goals and setting up 23 more. He joined the club from Aston Villa in 2021 and has won the Premier League three times, as well as the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and FA Cup once each.

His involvement with Manchester City this season has so far been limited. Grealish played eight minutes in the opening Premier League match against Bournemouth but was left out of the squad for the second game against Crystal Palace as discussions over his future continued.

Manchester City defeated Bournemouth 2-1 in their first league match of the campaign before beating Crystal Palace 4-1 in their second fixture. That result moved Pep Guardiola’s side to the top of the Premier League table.

Manchester City are preparing to face Coventry City away from home on Saturday in the third round of their Premier League campaign. Grealish’s potential return to Everton remains subject to the two clubs finalising the terms of the proposed loan, including the reported purchase option.
