France-born forward of Cameroonian descent, Hugo Ekitike, scored for Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday night, earning an important point for the team in their 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.
The in-demand attacker started the first leg of his team’s tie against the English opposition in the Europa League and made a good account of himself, proving why a lot of clubs are after his signature.
Just six minutes into the match, the talented forward picked up the ball near the edge of the box, danced past his markers, and unleashed a stunning strike into the bottom right corner. Tottenham’s goalkeeper, Guglielmo Vicario, was rooted to the spot as the ball nestled into the net.
However, the German side’s lead didn’t last long. In the 26th minute, James Maddison linked up cleverly with Pedro Porro, who found himself unmarked inside the box. Porro made no mistake, slotting a first-time finish past Kaua Santos to level the game at 1-1.
Despite both sides pushing for a winner in the second half, neither could find the breakthrough, leaving the tie wide open ahead of the return leg.
After the draw today, Hugo Ekitike and his Eintracht Frankfurt teammates will head into the reverse fixture feeling very confident.
Hugo Ekitike, 22, has scored three goals and provided four assists for Frankfurt in the Europa League this season.
He will be a key man for his team in the upcoming second leg meeting next weekend.
