Dynamo Kyiv emerged victorious from their clash with FC Thun on the 4th day of the Europa League, securing a 2-0 win on Swiss soil.
However, the triumph was marred by a forgettable performance from Dieumerci Mbokani. The Congolese striker received two yellow cards in a span of two minutes, resulting in his expulsion from the pitch. The first yellow card came after an egregious foul on a Swiss defender, and Mbokani’s subsequent protest against the referee, Clément Turpin, led to another caution, ultimately resulting in a red card. Dynamo had to play with a numerical disadvantage for an hour and a quarter. His behavior left his coach visibly displeased.
Despite the incident, Mbokani had previously played a significant role in Dynamo Kiev’s impressive victory against FC Thun (3-0) in the first leg, contributing the second goal for his team. The striker, expressing his desire for more playing time, still maintains his intention to leave in January.
