Etienne Eto’o, son of Cameroonian football legend Samuel Eto’o, marked his first professional appearance with a memorable debut goal for Rayo Vallecano. Coming on in the last 15 minutes of Rayo’s Copa del Rey clash with Villamuriel, the 21-year-old forward wasted no time, scoring just 13 minutes later to seal a 5-0 win for his team.

The young Eto’o, standing at 1.91 meters, capitalized on a chance that unfolded from a misstep by a Villamuriel defender, whose attempted tackle inadvertently set up an ideal assist on the right.

Eto’o took full advantage, firing a precise shot past the opposing goalkeeper in the 88th minute.

The crowd erupted in celebration as the young forward made his mark, and he was quickly embraced by veteran teammate Óscar Trejo, who at 36 is 14 years Eto’o’s senior.

Trejo’s enthusiastic congratulations, including a series of encouraging pats on the back, underscored the significance of the moment.

The goal comes at a pivotal time for the Mallorca-born forward, who joined Rayo Vallecano over the summer from lower-tier side CUC Villalba.

Eto’o made only one appearance for Villalba last season, logging a brief seven minutes in a scoreless draw against Fuenlabrada on January 4.

Now, with his impressive debut for Vallecano, he has taken a major step forward, repaying the club’s faith in his development and adding to the excitement surrounding his career.

His father, Samuel Eto’o, has undoubtedly taken pride in his son’s professional breakthrough.

Samuel, himself a celebrated football figure, recently made headlines with a performance at Emmanuel Adebayor’s jubilee in Lomé, Togo, where he showcased his enduring talent.

As Etienne embarks on his journey, the young forward continues to uphold the Eto’o family legacy in football, showing both promise and determination.

For Rayo Vallecano, Etienne’s goal not only cemented their victory but also highlighted a fresh source of talent in their lineup.

Having been included on the team’s roster twice earlier this season without playing, the young Eto’o’s patience has paid off in an impactful debut performance.

As the season unfolds, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how the striker builds on this momentous start.

“He’s fine, everything’s fine” – Jorge Mendes plays down Ansu Fati tension at Barcelona

Barcelona forward Ansu Fati’s agent Jorge Mendes has denied rumours of a fallout between the player and head coach Hansi Flick, amid growing speculation about the winger’s future at the club. Fati, who was born in Bissau, has endured a frustrating campaign under Flick, making only ten appearances without scoring or assisting in any competition this season. The 22-year-old’s limited involvement has fuelled talk of unrest within the squad, particularly among players who feel sidelined. Following Barcelona’s dramatic 4–3 win over Celta Vigo, Flick acknowledged the discontent in the dressing room. “I can understand that the players aren’t happy and are dissatisfied,” the German tactician admitted. “I was a professional

Nigerian defender Semi Ajayi set to depart West Bromwich at end of season

Semi Ajayi appears to be nearing the end of his tenure at West Bromwich Albion, with the club showing no signs of renewing his contract ahead of its expiry in June 2025. The 31-year-old Nigerian defender, who joined the Championship side in 2019, has seen his playing time severely limited this season due to a recurring hamstring injury. His last competitive appearance came on 22 February 2025, in a fixture against Oxford United. Since then, Ajayi has remained sidelined, and the prospects of a return to first-team action before the campaign concludes remain slim. Sources close to the club suggest that West Bromwich’s management is not considering offering the former
