Etienne Eto'o nets debut goal in professional opener for Rayo Vallecano

Etienne Eto’o, son of Cameroonian football legend Samuel Eto’o, marked his first professional appearance with a memorable debut goal for Rayo Vallecano. Coming on in the last 15 minutes of Rayo’s Copa del Rey clash with Villamuriel, the 21-year-old forward wasted no time, scoring just 13 minutes later to seal a 5-0 win for his team.

The young Eto’o, standing at 1.91 meters, capitalized on a chance that unfolded from a misstep by a Villamuriel defender, whose attempted tackle inadvertently set up an ideal assist on the right.

Eto’o took full advantage, firing a precise shot past the opposing goalkeeper in the 88th minute.

The crowd erupted in celebration as the young forward made his mark, and he was quickly embraced by veteran teammate Óscar Trejo, who at 36 is 14 years Eto’o’s senior.

Trejo’s enthusiastic congratulations, including a series of encouraging pats on the back, underscored the significance of the moment.

The goal comes at a pivotal time for the Mallorca-born forward, who joined Rayo Vallecano over the summer from lower-tier side CUC Villalba.

Eto’o made only one appearance for Villalba last season, logging a brief seven minutes in a scoreless draw against Fuenlabrada on January 4.

Now, with his impressive debut for Vallecano, he has taken a major step forward, repaying the club’s faith in his development and adding to the excitement surrounding his career.

His father, Samuel Eto’o, has undoubtedly taken pride in his son’s professional breakthrough.

Samuel, himself a celebrated football figure, recently made headlines with a performance at Emmanuel Adebayor’s jubilee in Lomé, Togo, where he showcased his enduring talent.

As Etienne embarks on his journey, the young forward continues to uphold the Eto’o family legacy in football, showing both promise and determination.

For Rayo Vallecano, Etienne’s goal not only cemented their victory but also highlighted a fresh source of talent in their lineup.

Having been included on the team’s roster twice earlier this season without playing, the young Eto’o’s patience has paid off in an impactful debut performance.

As the season unfolds, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how the striker builds on this momentous start.
