Tunisian giants Esperance faces a stiff competition from Sudanese giants Al Hilal for the acquisition of Mamelodi Sundowns and Namibia star Peter Shalulile in the current transfer window.
The 31-year-old forward is set to depart the South African giants despite having an existing contract with the club. Shalulile’s potential departure gained weight in December 2024, following the appointment of Miguel Cardoso as head coach.
Esperance were considered as the front-runners to land the prolific striker, having expressed readiness to offer him a lucrative deal.
However, the Sudanese powerhouse has entered the race to snap up the attacker in the current window, with both clubs set to go head to head for the signing of the forward.
Since 2020, Shalulile has been a pivotal figure for Sundowns and one of the most prolific strikers in African football. However, he has yet to make an appearance this season. He was left out of the squad for the MTN8 Cup match and spent the game against Chippa United on the bench.
