ES Mostaganem missed the chance to ease their relegation fears after a goalless draw against MC El Bayadh in the 26th round of the Algerian Football League on Sunday.
The home side showed flashes of intent but couldn’t break the deadlock despite several promising moments. MC El Bayadh, solid in defense, were also unable to convert opportunities of their own in a match where both teams struggled to finish.
MC El Bayadh now move up to 35 points, holding seventh place with four matches left. They remain nine points shy of third place, the last spot that grants a ticket to next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
ES Mostaganem, meanwhile, inch up to 27 points but remain stuck in 14th place, just a single goal clear of the drop zone. With pressure mounting, they face a tough test next against JS Kabylie on May 23.
MC El Bayadh will also be in action on the same day, as they look to stay in the top half of the table when they meet Olympique Akbou.
