Former Malawi national team coach Ernest Mtawali has confirmed he has applied for the vacant head coach position at FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.

The Malawian giants have been in the market for a new tactician since parting ways with Peter Mponda in December, with Gilbert Chirwa currently serving in an interim capacity.

Speaking to The Daily Times, Mtawali revealed his interest in the role, describing Bullets as one of the biggest clubs in the country.

“It is true that I have applied for the job. Bullets is a big brand, so I am ready if they give me a chance,” he said.

Meanwhile, the club has officially advertised the position on its website, a move manager Kimpho Loka says is part of standard recruitment procedure.

“For clarity, this is the first advertisement for the post of Head Coach. The Club did not advertise the post immediately after it fell vacant, and only announced the appointment of Gilbert Chirwa as interim Head Coach,” Loka told Pan-Africa Football.
“This process is part of the Club’s standard recruitment procedure.”

Big Bullets are expected to shortlist candidates in the coming weeks as they seek a permanent successor to Mponda.
