Former Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has come forward with alarming revelations about the distressing experiences he’s faced, revealing a disturbing campaign of threats, violence, and harassment.
Bailly, who recently made a move to Turkish club Besiktas in September, has been at the receiving end of relentless messages and threats from an agent claiming unresolved financial matters related to his transfer.
In these distressing incidents, the ex-Manchester United centre-back has received multiple unsettling WhatsApp messages from an agent, implying a financial dispute over a supposed debt related to his Besiktas move. One of the messages, following a 3-1 defeat to Fenerbahce, included a chilling statement: “I am happy to see what my curse is doing to you. You are not a man. You are a big Mickey Mouse.”
Speaking to Mirror Football, Bailly’s agent and uncle, Severin Bohui, explained the distressing situation, stating, “He’s not stopped sending him threats, messages, and blackmails.
He is insinuating Eric owes him some money because he was part of the people who brokered his move to Besiktas. Therefore, Eric should pay him some money.”
Bohui further highlighted the absence of any official agreement between Bailly and the agent involved in these threatening communications. “One thing is for sure, this guy has not stopped harassing Eric.
He even sent him a message today after their defeat to Fenerbahce. He’s threatening to send people out to him, so I don’t think blocking him will solve the problem. This is more of a security issue than a FIFA one,” Bohui added.
Bailly’s distressing revelation raises concerns about the safety and security of professional footballers amid external pressures and threats, highlighting the vulnerabilities faced by players beyond the confines of the pitch.
