Nigerian giants, Enyimba FC, have completed the signing of former West Bromwich Albion striker Brown Ideye to bolster their squad for the remainder of the season.
The 36-year-old forward, who had been training with Rivers United, was not offered a contract by the Port Harcourt-based club.
Enyimba, however, have moved swiftly to bring him on board, and he began training with the team last month.
Ideye was officially introduced to the club’s fans in Aba on Monday. The People’s Elephant expressed their excitement over the signing, praising the experience and professionalism the veteran striker will bring to their campaign.
“We are delighted to officially announce the addition of former Super Eagles striker, Brown Ideye, to our fold,” the club said in a statement on their official website.
The club added, “We expect the experience and professionalism he will add to our game and quest in the remaining games this season, especially under the new gaffer.”
Ideye’s return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) marks a significant milestone in his career.
After playing for the now-defunct Ocean Boys during the 2006–07 season, he enjoyed stints at top European clubs such as Dynamo Kyiv and West Bromwich Albion.
His most recent club was Al-Yarmouk in Kuwait. Enyimba will be hoping that the addition of Ideye will provide the boost needed to strengthen their attack and propel them through the rest of the season.
