English-Nigerian winger Noni Madueke says ‘Arsenal culture the best I’ve seen’ in swipe at Chelsea
Noni Madueke’s assessment of Arsenal’s dressing-room environment has dominated discussion after the winger openly contrasted it with his experience at Chelsea.
His declaration that ‘the culture around Arsenal is probably the best I’ve seen’ has sharpened scrutiny on his former club while reinforcing his commitment to Mikel Arteta’s project.
The Nigerian-heritage forward crossed the London divide last summer in a move that stirred heavy debate among both sets of supporters.
His debut campaign has been disrupted by injury, but he has still made five Premier League appearances without a goal or assist.
Madueke told The Dispatch podcast that the togetherness in Arsenal’s squad has exceeded his expectations.
He admitted the reaction online to his transfer was tense, yet maintained he has not felt hostility inside the stadium.
Madueke also expressed appreciation for how Arsenal fans have managed the sensitivities around his move.
“The team has been great. Of course we’re flying. It’s not just a team of great and talented players,” he said. “It’s a team full of good people. And I think the culture around here is probably the best I’ve seen.
“And yeah, in terms of the supporters, it was a bit dicey at the start on social media and stuff before I came to the club. But when I’ve been in the stadium, I haven’t felt like the fans (have been criticising me).
“Obviously I play on the side down the pitch so I can hear them and they push me on throughout the game. Whenever I get the ball I hear them.
“God willing that continues because it gives me a big. big boost.
“I always love playing at the Emirates. I always look forward to the next game when I’m back there. The fans have been amazing and I really appreciate how they’ve handled everything.”
The 23-year-old remains sidelined after suffering an injury in September. Arsenal staff continue to monitor his recovery, confident he can become a decisive long-term figure once fully fit.
