Eberechi Eze has sealed a long-term deal with Arsenal, marking a return to the club where his football journey first began in its academy.

The 27-year-old England international joins the Gunners after five standout seasons with Crystal Palace, becoming one of Mikel Arteta’s headline signings of the transfer window.

Eze’s career trajectory reflects a steady climb through English football. After breaking through at Queens Park Rangers in 2016, the midfielder’s technical ability and flair quickly earned him recognition, culminating in being named QPR’s Player of the Year for the 2019–20 campaign.

His form secured a move to Crystal Palace, where he went on to make over 150 appearances and cemented his place as one of the Premier League’s most creative midfielders.

One of Eze’s defining moments came at Selhurst Park when he scored the winning goal in the FA Cup Final against Manchester City, delivering a historic triumph for Palace.

That performance underlined his reputation as a game-changer capable of thriving on the biggest stage.

On the international scene, Eze has steadily risen through England’s ranks. Having represented the Three Lions at youth level, he made his senior debut in 2023.

Since then, he has won 11 caps and featured in Euro 2024, further solidifying his place in Gareth Southgate’s plans.

His first international goal arrived in March, when he scored in a commanding 3–0 victory over Latvia during World Cup qualifying.

Arsenal’s sporting director Andrea Berta expressed his delight at securing Eze’s signature, describing the midfielder as a key piece of the club’s long-term vision.

“We are delighted to have finalized this agreement to bring Eberechi to Arsenal. He is a creative and explosive talent with exceptional technical quality,” said Berta.

“We are confident Eberechi will be an important addition to our squad as we continue to build for success.”

Manager Mikel Arteta echoed those sentiments, emphasising both the midfielder’s technical brilliance and the determination that has driven his career.

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Eberechi to Arsenal,” Arteta said. “He is a powerful and promising player who will add a new dimension to our attack.

What stands out, beyond his talent and intelligence, is the hard work he has put in to reach this stage of his career.”

Eze, who will wear the coveted No.10 shirt at the Emirates Stadium, is expected to join his new teammates following Arsenal’s upcoming fixture against Leeds United.

His signing signals the Gunners’ intent to strengthen their attacking options as they aim for major honours this season.
