English-Congolese Wan-Bissaka set to boost West Ham defence with return against Brighton

West Ham United manager Graham Potter is optimistic about the return of right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 27-year-old defender, of Congolese descent, missed last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Southampton due to a toe injury.

Potter confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Wan-Bissaka is expected to be available for selection, providing a boost to the Hammers’ defensive options.

The manager stated: “Long-term absentees will still be there, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka should be back and should be available for the squad.”

While Wan-Bissaka’s return is a positive development, West Ham will still be without several key players.

Midfielder Edson Alvarez is sidelined with a back problem, and Potter expressed hope that he would be fit for the following week’s match.

Additionally, Michail Antonio remains out due to injuries sustained in a car accident, and Crysencio Summerville is unavailable with a hamstring injury.

The Hammers are seeking to end a six-match winless streak in the league as they travel to the Amex Stadium.

Potter, who previously managed Brighton, is under pressure to improve results, with his team currently sitting 17th in the Premier League standings.

A victory against his former club would be a significant step toward securing top-flight survival.
