Rotherham United have completed the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Marvin Kaleta on a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
The 20-year-old becomes the latest addition to Steve Evans’ squad ahead of the upcoming League One campaign.
Kaleta, who is of DR Congolese descent, spent last season on loan at Scottish Premiership side Motherwell, where he made 21 league appearances and impressed with his composure and physicality in defence.
His performances north of the border attracted attention, and Rotherham have moved swiftly to secure his services on a permanent basis.
The young centre-back could make his debut when the Millers kick off their League One season at home to Port Vale on Saturday, August 2.
His arrival adds depth to the club’s back line, as Rotherham aim for promotion back to the Championship following their relegation last season.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Kaleta said he was drawn by the belief Rotherham showed in him.
“As a young player, the best place to be is where you’re given a platform, where everyone buys into you and you buy into a club,” he said.
The deal marks a new chapter for Kaleta, who joined Wolves from the youth ranks but did not make a senior appearance for the Premier League side.
