The PFA (Professional Footballers’ Association) end-of-season awards in England did not feature any African players in the eleven for the season. The lineup was dominated by Manchester United with four players (David De Gea, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick, and Robin Van Persie). Other players included were Eden Hazard from Chelsea and Luis Suarez from Liverpool. In the previous year, Ivorian Yaya Touré had been part of the PFA Team of the Year. The absence of African players in the current lineup highlights the competitive nature of English football and the recognition given to outstanding performances throughout the season.
