Arsene Wenger must be eager for the season to end. The French coach hasn’t had much to smile about in recent weeks. Following humiliating defeats against Manchester City and Chelsea, Arsenal suffered another setback in the Premier League, this time against Everton, losing 0-3. Their hold on 4th place is now in jeopardy.
Similar to their defeats against City and Chelsea, Arsenal found themselves trailing early in the game. Within the first 30 minutes, Naismith and Romelu Lukaku had already put Arsenal on the back foot. Showing little initiative, Wenger’s side conceded a third goal in the second half when Arteta, under pressure from Mirallas, inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.
With Everton now breathing down their necks, Arsenal’s grip on 4th place, which secures a spot in the Champions League preliminary round, is slipping away. Everton, with three games in hand, are just one point behind.
