Emmanuel Adebayor’s tenure at White Hart Lane will conclude if he remains at Tottenham until 2017, as the club has decided to introduce a new stadium, according to Sky Sports.
The Tottenham club announced on its website significant progress towards the construction of the new stadium, slated to open in the summer of 2017.
Daniel Levy, President of Spurs, highlighted the need for a new stadium due to the overwhelming demand for seats, with a waiting list of 47,000 people while the current White Hart Lane holds only 36,000. Additionally, Tottenham’s current stadium size is comparatively small among the top European clubs.
In light of these factors and to adhere to financial fair play regulations, Tottenham sees the necessity to enhance its revenue streams through the construction of a new stadium.
This decision marks the end of an era for White Hart Lane, which has been home to the club for over a century. Tottenham joins Liverpool in the endeavor to replace their historic stadium, Anfield, with a new 60,000-seat venue.
