Emerse Faé’s wife became an unexpected star at the 2024 CAF Awards in Marrakech, Morocco, after her husband’s touching speech catapulted her into the spotlight. Known for her low profile, with a modest following of just 4,000 on Instagram, Mrs. Faé found herself at the center of attention during the prestigious ceremony.

The Ivorian national team coach, honored as the Coach of the Year, dedicated his award to his wife in an emotional tribute. Addressing the audience, Faé said:

“First of all, I would like to thank a woman who has always been by my side and who has supported me for almost 20 years, giving me the strength to move forward and aim higher, even in the most difficult moments. Thank you, my wife. Thank you, my darling.”

A Playful Moment Caught on Camera

As her husband delivered his heartfelt words, Mrs. Faé was spotted filming him from the audience with her smartphone.

In a light-hearted moment, she playfully stuck her tongue out at him, a gesture that was caught on camera and broadcast worldwide.

The endearing moment quickly drew mixed reactions online. Some viewers found it charming, while others teased her playfulness with comments like, “A real kid” and “A funny moment from someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously.”

A Love Story Rooted in Football

Emerse Faé and his wife’s relationship dates back to his playing days, with a chance introduction facilitated by his close friend and former teammate Guy Demel.

Reflecting on their history, Faé shared in a FIFA interview:

“When we were players, Guy was already like a big brother to me. We shared a room during national team camps, where we talked about life and football.

He introduced me to my wife, and he’s now the godfather of my eldest daughter.”

The connection between the families goes even deeper. Mrs. Faé is the cousin of Yannick Sagbo, a former Ivorian international, who is also the half-brother of Guy Demel.

This remarkable web of relationships further underscores the close-knit nature of Faé’s personal and professional life.

A Memorable Night

The CAF Awards 2024 ceremony not only celebrated Africa’s footballing excellence but also showcased moments of personal joy and connection.

Emerse Faé’s tribute to his wife and her candid reaction added a uniquely human touch to the evening, leaving a lasting impression on viewers around the world.
