Al Ahly midfielder Emam Ashour is setting his sights high as he dreams of lifting the Club World Cup trophy with the Egyptian giants in the United States.
The dynamic playmaker, who returned to Al Ahly last summer after a short stint in Denmark with FC Midtjylland, believes the team has what it takes to go all the way.
“Why don’t we dream of winning the title?” Ashour said. “Any team we face will have 11 players like us.”
The 27-year-old also addressed recent headlines about a supposed rift with former Zamalek teammate Mahmoud Abdel Razek Shikabala. Ashour dismissed any tension, calling Shikabala “a good personality” with a “white heart.”
Reflecting on his career, Ashour said his best day came when he won the CAF Champions League with Al Ahly, while his lowest was losing the African Super Cup to Zamalek.
He’s open to a return to Europe if the right offer comes and praised Al Ahly for their support.
Ashour also expressed pride in playing alongside Trezeguet and welcomed Ahmed Zizo’s transfer to the team.
