It appears that Mauritania’s national football team, the Mourabitounes, is facing significant challenges ahead of their return match against Mauritius in the first preliminary round of the CAN 2015 tournament. Despite winning the first leg 1-0, there are concerns that they may not be able to travel for the return match.
Reports suggest that the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports in Mauritania is hesitant to cover the budget required for the team’s trip, as provided by the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania (FFRIM). Consequently, the FFRIM is seeking funds from potential partners to finance the journey to Mauritius.
The departure of the Mauritanian delegation, initially scheduled for Sunday, has been postponed until Tuesday, but uncertainty still looms over the trip.
This situation adds to the challenges faced by Mauritania in the preliminary rounds, including the absence of their captain, Dominique da Silva, due to administrative reasons.
